Bill Excluding Hyde Amendment Passes U.S. House of Representatives

Last week, the United States House of Representatives passed a spending bill that excluded the Hyde Amendment – an important pro-life safeguard that has been in place under every administration since 1976. The Hyde Amendment prevents taxpayer dollars from going towards elective abortions and is estimated to have saved 2.6 million lives since its introduction in 1976, according to the Charlotte Lozier Institute. The bill now sits with the Senate and awaits their vote.

With more than half of Americans believing tax dollars should not pay for elective abortions, this would be a detriment to both taxpayers and women who are considering abortion. As the legislation advances to the Senate, its passage could have far-reaching consequences for public funding and abortion policy nationwide.
